So, I’m not keyed into the mining scene. Why are miners trying to use the gaming graphics cards? The workstation graphics cards are much more powerful, and have more memory (though more expensive).
It’s counterintuitive, but I use my rtx 3060 for machine learning most of the time, and it’s actually really slow with Pytorch. This is because Pytorch uses almost all of the available video memory. On the computing cluster at my university, the same program runs over twice as fast on a tesla v100, and it has a cuda capability of 7 compared to the 8.6 of the rtx 3060.
This is because the v100 cards in the computing cluster have 32gb of memory.
So would workstation grade graphics cards be better for miners?
